Strengthening Community
Through Service, Care & Healing
Welcome to the first community center in the nation to combine Mounted Patrol “horses” with community engagement programs.
MKE Urban Stables is an innovative private-public partnership designed to not only be the new home for MPD’s Mounted Patrol, but to also act as a unique resource for strengthening relations between our police and community.
Community Engagement
Here to build trust and relationships
- Interactive learning program for elementary and intermediate school students taught by MPD officers with class teachers.
- Program development is underway with MPS and community organizations serving at-risk youth.
- Publicly-accessible facility designed to bring officers and citizens together in a positive environment.
- Community engagement programs coordinated by the Stables and MPD.

There are more than 850 programs nationwide, but currently there are none in Milwaukee County.
We have a partnership with Zablocki VA Hospital to provide therapy to veterans.
We have a partnership with Hamilton High School to provide therapy for their special needs student population.
One of our initial focuses will be on therapy for community members suffering from trauma.
Opportunities for Volunteer Engagement
We expect to engage over 300 community volunteers each year through hands-on, meaningful opportunities to assist with therapy and community engagement programs.
